After graduating from Hampden Sydney College in 2003, I started my career in the building industry with The ChristopherCompanies. I began my stay as an Assistant Construction Manager and later became a Project Manager. During my career with The Christopher Companies, I managed the development and construction of several single-family homes, town homes, apartments, condominiums, multi-use projects, joint ventures and tenant build outs throughout Northern Virginia.
During my tenure with The Christopher Companies I became involved with the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association. In 2014,I was asked to be the Prince William Chapter President. This experience broadened my personal network and knowledge of the industry as a whole. After my term as the Prince William Chapter President, I was selected by my peers to jump on the ladder for the main association and in 2016 became the President of the Board of Directors for the NorthernVirginia Building Industry Association.During my term we were successful in drafting and passing proffer reform legislation that was designed to make the entitlement process fairer for the development community. I was the youngest person in the history of the organization to be president.
Concurrent with my involvement with the NVBIA, in 2016 I was asked to sit on the Board of Directors for HomeAid Northern Virginia. HomeAid is the charitable arm of the NVBIA and they use the resources of the building community to build and renovate homeless shelters in Northern Virginia. In 2018, I will be the President of the Board of Directors for HomeAid Northern Virginia. This honor is one that I am extremely proud of as the issue of homelessness is real and the impact that HomeAid makes is incredible. During the 16 year life of HomeAidNorthern Virginia, we have successfully completed over 100 projects. These projects had a retail value of almost 15 million dollars and we were able to save the shelters nearly 8 million dollars with in kind donations.
Recently I made a career move and now work for Van Metre Homes. I was hired to be the Director of Operations but have been promoted to Vice President of Building Operations. I am now responsible for the day to day operations of a home builder. I am directly responsible for guiding our in house architecture team, the construction team and our manufacturing facility that provides roof trusses, floor trusses and wall panels. Currently I am on the Board of Directors for TVBA, the Executive Board of HBAV and Chair the Volume Builders Council within HBAV.
